Parties!

This week we have no meetings because of the Circuit Assembly this weekend, but we have gone to two social events!
The first was Monday evening: a congregation dinner. Since there are only about 25 of us we all fit into one living room! There was good food, music and dancing. Amazingly all my Danish/Mexican spaghetti was eaten! (I am not a cook.) It was fun to watch the ones who like to dance and one brother is a great singer and flaminco guitar player!
Then yesterday we were invited to a wedding at 3 PM and the reception at 6. The KH was decorated very nicely with at least 10 huge displays of white flowers on pedestals. Some thought it too much but I liked it!
The different customs of the ceremony were interesting. The couple walked quickly in and went to the stage where they sat for the entire talk. No marching in with all the attendants.......let's get down to business!
This talk was different in that the bride is Mexican and speaks English also. The groom is Swiss and speaks Swiss-German and a little English, no Spanish! So, the talk was given in Spanish, Swiss-German and English! There were no vows because they had already done them in Switzerland. No kiss. The talk was over and that was it. The couple did stay on the stage to be greeted by all and have pictures taken with everyone. Oh yes, there were two "bridesmaids" who wore fancy dresses but sat in the audience!
Then we went to a very nice restaurant. We could sit wherever we wanted. I'd say there were a hundred people there. A 4 or 5 course meal (excellent) with wine for all. When the games on stage began we watched a while and then realized people were being called up by name to play the games, so we quietly snuck out! We were told that after the games there would be dancing until 2 am. Too old for that, but we're glad they were all having such a good time!
Next week I'll write about the C.A. I will try to take pictures......can't believe I didn't get any this week!
